The Women in Dickens' Life at The Women's Library (UK)
Lucinda Dickens-Hawksley and Gaynor Arnold discuss the women in Dickens' life: his daughter, his wife and his lover. Lucinda Hawksley (great-great-great-granddaughter of Dickens) talks about Charles Dicken's daughter Katey - a beautiful artists' model, celebrated artist and friend of London's artistic and literary elite. Gaynor Arnold draws from her fictional biography of Charles Dickens' wife Catherine, Girl in a Blue Dress, recently nominated for the Man Booker Prize, the Orange Prize and the Desmond Elliott Prize. Lucinda and Gaynor will also talk about Dickens' mistress, the actress Nelly Ternan. Organised by the Greater London Authority as part of the Story of London Festival - 19 June 2009 - The Women's Library (UK)
