"Library Journal named Queens Library its 2009 Library of the Year. The announcement was made on the steps of New York's City Hall by Francine Fialkoff, Library Journal's Editor-in-Chief and John N. Berry III, Editor-at-Large. It is the cover story of the publication's June 15, 2009 issue. They were joined on the podium by leaders of City government. 'Library of the Year' is an annual awards program of Library Journal, sponsored by Gale, part of Cengage Learning. Queens Library is one of New York City's three independent public library systems"
