William Kleinknecht will discuss his book "The Man Who Sold the World: Ronald Reagan and the Betrayal of Main Street America" at 7:30 p.m. February 11 at Powell's City of Books, 1005 W. Burnside St., Portland, OR. Kleinknecht contends that the economic policies Reagan initiated in the 1980s have led directly to the current economic crisis. Reagan's cuts in government spending, deregulation of industries and tax cuts targeted at the upper class had a devastating effect on the middle class, Kleinknecht believes.
