Last April, members of the public were asked to nominate their favourite work of fiction as part of BBC Two's Big Read. Nearly 140,000 people voted and The Big Read Top 100 novels were announced in May in alphabetical order. Now that list has been whittled down to the 21 most popular, based on those votes, and announced in The Big Read Top 21
