Campaigners fight to save under threat West Cumbrian library (UK)

A campaign to save Seaton Library has been launched. The county council has drawn up a list of 20 small libraries across Cumbria and mobile libraries on an at-risk list following a decline in use. Moorclose and Distington are also on the list. Seaton villagers said the library was at the heart of the community and used by all age groups, not just for borrowing books. Alice Salkeld, manager at residential home Firth House, has started a petition. She said that about 20 of the residents in the home, which is opposite the library, regularly used it. They said it meant everything to them - Times & Star
