Codex canadiensis

Library and Archives Canada, in partnership with the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the Gail and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Institute for Studies in Canadian Art at Concordia University, has announced the launch of a new Web exhibition, Codex canadiensis. Funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage through its Canadian Culture Online initiative, this website presents a digital version of Codex canadiensis, Louis Nicolas' exquisite illustrated manuscript (ca.1700) about the flora, fauna and peoples of the New World. LAC's presentation of this fascinating document in digital page-turning format allows these delicate pages, too fragile for general consultation, to be viewed by everyone
