Hybrid Journals: Transition to Full Open Access or Here to Stay?

If you are going to the ALA Midwinter Meeting next month, you are cordially invited to the ALCTS Scholarly Communications Interest Group Panel Discussion:

Topic: Hybrid Journals: Transition to Full Open Access or Here to Stay?
Date: Saturday, January 8, 2011
Time: 1:30pm - 3:30pm
Location: Room 23C, San Diego Convention Centre (SDCC)

It is now common that subscription-based journals provide an "author pays" option for authors to publish their research as open access articles. What determines the pricing of the "author pays" option? How is this hybrid business model faring? Will hybrid journals turn into full open access titles over time? Four panelists will discuss the development, perceptions, and future of the hybrid model of journal publishing from different perspectives. Moderator: Judy Luther, President, Informed Strategies
