Royal Society Library public events - Spring 2007
The Royal Society's spring events programme begins on 16 March with a talk by author John Gribbin on Robert FitzRoy, Darwin's captain on HMS Beagle. Other topics in the series include the early days of ballooning, polar exploration, scientific instrument maker Jesse Ramsden, the Royal Society's links with India in the 18th and 19th centuries, and some of the more curious scientific ideas devised by the Society's early Fellows. The events will take place in the Library reading rooms on Fridays in March and April
