A new free service by the National Library in Canberra will allow users to search the contents of 800 Australian libraries.
Libraries Australia has been used by professional librarians for 25 years. The National Library's Fran Wilson says from today that will extend to everyone. "It will be accessible to all Australians, basically anyone who has access to the Internet," she said. Ms Wilson says 40 million items will be listed online, from books and journals to music and even maps
