The shortlist for the tenth annual Branford Boase Award has been announced. The winner of the award will be announced on 9 July 2009 at an award ceremony to be held at Walker Books in London, UK:

* Flood Child (originally published as Reavers' Ransom) by Emily Diamand, Chicken House

* The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, Walker Books
* Ways to Live Forever by Sally Nicholls, Scholastic (Marion Lloyd Books)
