Gutted - slang book is banned: The author of what has been described as the definitive dictionary of slang is gobsmacked, gutted, throwing up bunches, honked, hipped and jacked like a cock-maggot in a sink-hole. A North Carolina school district has banned the dictionary under pressure from one of a growing number of conservative Christian groups using the internet to encourage school book bans across the US. Jonathon Green, who compiled the 87,000 entries in the Cassell Dictionary of Slang, which was published last year, said that North Carolina is the only place he knows of where the book cannot be used in schools - The Guardian

New backfile options from SAGE
Deep backfile for the majority of SAGE's peer-reviewed scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences, and scientific, technical, and medical fields will be available for lease and purchase for the 2007 subscription year. The pricing of the deep backfile for individual SAGE journals will be included in SAGE's annual journals price list, which will be released in July 2006. Deep backfile is defined as the content of a journal from issue 1, volume 1, through the last issue of 1998 (content from January 1999 to the present is included in the current subscription)
