Vulgar, controversial and politically incorrect,
Censored at the Seaside is an exhibition showcasing the art of Donald McGill (1875-1962), who was for more than 50 years the "King of the saucy postcard". Between 1904 and 1962 he produced an estimated 12,000 designs of which some 150m cards were printed and sold. His leitmotif was of a voluptuous lady in a tight dress with the optional extra of a weedy man, and a double entendre for a caption. The Cartoon Art Trust, London, UK - 25 May-31 July 2004
