The Linda Hall Library, a private library of science, engineering, and technology in Kansas City, MO, has announced that it has acquired a 464-year old edition of Narratio Prima, by mathematician Georg Joachim Rheticus, a disciple of Copernicus. The book cost $1.5 million, paid for by the library's private funders. Published in Latin in 1540, the book is one of the few first editions still in existence.
