English Heritage Archives enables anyone interested in England's historic buildings and archaeological sites to search – free of charge – photographs and documents held by the National Monuments Record, the public archive of English Heritage. You'll find thousands of descriptions of the photographs and documents we keep in our archive. We hold photographs dating from the 1850s to the present day, along with plans and drawings of historic buildings and archaeological sites. Subjects range from architectural details to prehistoric landscapes, from country houses to coal mines
