Liverpool University Library opens following GBP17 million investment
The University of Liverpool's Sydney Jones Library has opened following a GBP17 million redevelopment project. The project, which has taken two years to complete, has extended the original library building into the University's former headquarters building, Senate House. Named after former Lord Mayor of Liverpool and University benefactor Sir Charles Sydney Jones, the library is now home to more than 1.2 million books, as well as student IT facilities, teaching rooms and a cafe with outdoor terrace. Liverpool poets and honorary graduates Roger McGough and Brian Patten opened the Library on 6th November 2008
