British Museum takes collection online
"The British Museum has set up a new website to provide more details of its collection to the public. It has described the launch of its Collection Online as a landmark in its history. It will enable the public to access records for approximately 260,000 objects, making this one of the largest museum collection databases on the web. The project is ongoing but at launch it will include records for pictorial art objects in the collection (50,000 drawings and 180,000 prints). Other departmental collections will be added during 2008, and the database is expected to be completed during 2009"
