Thousands of record-breaking bookworms expected at Whitechapel's London Muslim Centre
Thousands of children will have their noses in books in Whitechapel on Thursday as the London Muslim Centre attempts to smash a world reading record. As part of World Book Day, organisers hope they can get more than 3,000 participants to break the world record of "the most children reading with an adult". Reading the Roald Dahl classic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, volunteers and celebrity readers will be reading to groups of children at the London Muslim Centre in Whitechapel Road. The record breaking event aims to raise the issue of literacy among five to 16-year-olds as well as break the record, which currently stands at 3,032 children, set in Dubai in 2008. The 12 hour extravaganza will start at 9am and will host school children from all over London
