This course will give an overview of significant changes in the library/information environment, and their consequences for information providers:

* New forms of access – repositories and open access
* New types of resources and interfaces – web 2.0 and more
* Economic, social and political issues – their effect on the library/information sectors, and how our continuing value can be demonstrated
* Future-proofing – how can library/information specialists respond to these trends and develop their skills
