Celebrating Tibet at The Library of Congress
"The Congressional Gold Medal - the U.S.A.'s highest civilian honor - will be given by the U.S. Congress to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet on October 17. The award recognizes the Dalai Lama's advocacy of religious harmony, nonviolence and human rights throughout the world. In honor of the occasion, the Library of Congress will present Celebrating Tibet: A special display on the occasion of the presentation of the Congressional Gold Medal to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Comprising 40 Tibetan items, the display will be on view from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Friday, October 16-19, in the Asian Reading Room, located in Room 150 of the Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First Street S.E., Washington, D.C."
