Science.gov, the Web portal for federal science information, now provides a free and convenient "Alert" service that delivers information about the most current science developments right to desktops each Monday. Launched at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (Feb. 17-21, 2005) in Washington, D.C., the Science.gov Alert Service provides weekly emails to those interested in science
Version 57 of the Scholarly Electronic Publishing Bibliography is now available. This selective bibliography presents over 2,325 articles, books, and other printed and electronic sources that are useful in understanding scholarly electronic publishing efforts on the Internet

This is the pilot site of the People's Network Service, a lottery-funded project to develop national online services from England's public libraries. The first of these services, allows you to have any enquiries answered by knowledgeable staff, just as if you were in your local library. It is being piloted before its launch to the public in Spring 2005

SUNCAT is the pilot Serials UNion CATalogue for the UK. The pilot service includes records from 22 of the largest UK research libraries and the databases of the CONSER programme and the ISSN International network. Further libraries will be added continuously over the next two years. A full service will be launched in Autumn 2006. SUNCAT can be used to locate serials in contributing libraries. SUNCAT will also provide links to the web pages of contributing libraries so that users of this service can find the library addresses, phone numbers, opening hours and lending services
Cape Town will host the first ever international book fair to be held in South Africa in June 2006. With the signing of a joint venture agreement between the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Publishers' Association of South Africa, Cape Town will be partnering with the largest and most successful book fair organisation in the world
