Texas Heritage Digitization Initiative 2010 Annual Meeting

The Texas Heritage Digitization Initiative will hold its annual meeting on February 5, 2010 at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at The University of Texas at Austin. Keynote Speaker: Andrew J. Torget, University of North Texas, "Can Historians Survive the 21st Century?" What does the digital revolution mean for historians? Andrew Torget will discuss the unprecedented challenges and opportunities of doing history in the age of Google, and new research methods (such as geospatial analysis and text-mining) that promise to transform how we understand the human past. Andrew J. Torget is a historian of nineteenth-century America at the University of North Texas, where he is developing new methods in digital scholarship
